Am sitting in the sixth floor, gazing at the lake and big mountains through the window in my new hostel room, enjoying the movement of water and birds. Obviously, I am in a good mood. I was just thinking about the path I traveled all these years that helped me to face the challenges as well as happiness with confidence. I will keep writing here whatever comes to my flow and hope you guys will find it interesting
I am a kind of person to stick onto what I am used for long, irrespective it is living or non-living. There are days where i hesitated to use new mobile since because I am comfortable with what I am using and I don't wanna miss my old gadgets. Is it usual for people to develop some attachment to what ever they are with for long ?? I was so close with my old friends that my mind hesitates to stay close with new people and share the same kind of friendship I use to share with my old friends. Saying "Bye" is the hard situation for ever in my life to everything around me
I was at home until I complete my BSc., and being in Home means staying as you wish with full comfort, eating what you like and your parents take good care of you. It was for my MSc., I flyed out of my home to a different city and I have to stay away from home leaving my family for the very first time in the university hostel. I still remember the day I bid " bye" with tears filled eyes to my father when he left me in the hostel. I am glad that my roommate at that time was Tania from Kolkatta and she told my father "don't worry uncle I will take care of sri". Those words are ringing in my ears and only few people are kind enough to say those sentence and give hope to parents when they leave their kids in hostel. She was very good to me and I miss her after she left the hostel.
Hostel life has taught me so much and brought a complete transformation in me. I never take food outside in any medium class hotels, coffee shop or use rest rooms and I think them unhygienic. Infact I never used anybody's plate, spoon, coffee cup, bed nor allowed anyone using the same. But this is all a part of hostel life !! I have to get up early in the morning, bath in cool water, eat the food though the people who cook it behave unhygienic.. lot of adjustments, disappointments and irritations. My best friend since my BSc., is Suj (Suja) and we both together enjoyed and learned the art of surviving away from home.
Then I moved to Japan, for two months for an Internship and I enjoyed all the new new experiences as well learnt to take care of myself. After I come back, I spent my hostel life happily with suja, encountering all the problems together. I would say those are the days to recall, rejoice and I wish for them again !!
After then, to do my MSc., project I went to Goa and suja to Andaman. I am totally out from my friend's and family circle especially for the first time after five years from suja to other part of the country, where you don't know anyone. I would say this is the best part of life where I understood what life is, how people are and this is where I learned to cope up the hard times and manage the toughest situation. My friends use to say that I trust people easily, Yes I do. My father say me that I am careless, Yes I am careless and that's why someone took my money and my costly camera that I got from Japan in my first stipend. I am always passionate about research and I felt bad when I am not able to do research in that place up to my satisfaction. I was not happy there, But I am thankful for being there, as I could understand life is not always being happy and getting what you wish !! Here, I learnt to be independent and I am glad now a days I don't depend upon anyone for anything. As soon as I reached home after my project, my mom gave me compliments saying, though situations and people were hard to deal, I managed and she never expected this side of me. Awww...that moment I felt proud of myself
I was then again back to my university hostel for my M.Phil degree from where i did my MSc.,. Here I missed suja very much. When ever I go to mess for food, I could remember the place I and she use to sit and eat at times in a same plate, then the swing we use to sit together and enjoy the ups and downs. I get lost the moment i see any two good friends moving along together happily, then the way we use to ride cycles inside the campus every morning to class holding each other's hand. Golden memories.... I felt it hard initially to pass my days in her absence in that place with all these memories. However, My research at lab was going on and I have to thank Achi sir for letting me permission to learn all techniques and expertise available in his lab. He is always very motivating, helping and it was because of him now am in the field of nanotechnology. My M.Phil days altogether helped me to augment my research skills and understand more about research. The one good lesson here I learnt is not to melt for tears of someone, and the most important, " Lets help others but Let us not allow others to use us "
After my M.Phil I was wondering where my destiny would put me. I was keep on trying to set a career as I wish.. .and got few chances, I said "No" and days later I am Happy for my "No" . I missed few chances and people advised me to think twice of my decision. I am now thinking of how my career would be if I have chosen that. But fine, I don't regret for the decisions I have taken in my life till now. I should really thank my dad and mom and my family and friends for giving me all independence to do what I wish and be like what I want. I am always given space and freedom to take and follow my own decisions. After my BSc., my sister Prems, has been my constant support and whenever i speak with her I could understand that she wants me to settle and have a good career soon. I was holding patience, applied for places where I liked, and as of now I am enjoying research in chennai. Brand new place for me, brand new people around me and entirely the research I will be doing is all new to me. Two days back I shifted my hostel room to a new block,, New room... I got few new friends and its all New beginning !! I hope to do well, give my best and enjoy this part of my life.
Years before I am so different than I am now. I am so sensitive, especially I get attached to people like a gum and cry a lot while leaving. I never like "changes ". The path I traveled all these years gave me many experiences through which I could understand more about life and people. I can now adopt to changes..I realized that nothing is permanent except change. Likewise, people come, go and life is all meeting and departing..No one is permanent for us.. even our shadow. I should enjoy what is with me at present. I can't go through small hurting from people and disappointments. Now I understood that life is not always being happy and I can accept the defeat in a cool attitude.I am confident to handle the hard times, what ever is the problem. If I can't handle a problem, I leave it to God !!Things will not happen as we think and we can't get what ever we wish. When situation demands, you need to change and you need to get down sometimes from your standard and forget your principles!! Sometimes we need to accept life as it comes and later one day we will realize that everything happens with a reason. Trust me guys, how much ever hard the situation is Time heals everything.
I am crossing 25yrs of my life.. I gained and lost so many things in my life.Whatever I lost is not a matter for me. But for one thing I am always proud of, is my friends..Their true association, constant support, motivation during my crucial times has helped me to cross all my difficulty. I am thankful to God, for granting a boon to have such great friends. I miss them very often.. and I wish them to be near me. Days are moving on, I have to carry on my life as it goes. .... Just like me, my old gold friends take their life in their direction. I know how much far we stay, they will be there for me always and will pray to God for my well fare..That's more than enough,, isn't ??
